I listened to your rant about Dollhouse, then I went and watched it. I slept on all of that, and now I'm here to post what I think of all of it...your rant and Dollhouse.

I agree and disagree with your opinion of Elisa Dushku. I've seen her in shows other than Buffy, and while those performances made me question her acting skills, her debut in Dollhouse displays, I think, glimmers of potential. I saw moments in which she was 'being' rather than 'doing'...inhabiting a role rather than executing a performance...which tells me that progress is possible. Whether or not people will stick with the show long enough for her potential progress to yield results is another story.

I disagree with your opinion that the show was boring. Stiff in some areas, yes. Awkward in others, definitely. But it held my attention, in spite of the reviews I read and podcast I listened to prior to watching it...something I can't say the same of for, say Knight Rider v2. THAT show was boring.

Do I agree with your opinion that the show is sexist? I'll have to reserve judgement until after I've seen more episodes. Yes, the 'fantasy weekend' opening is basically euphimisied prostitution, but the rest of the episode indicates something more. Are the fantasy engagements funding for more altruistic work? Were Miss Penn's flaws deliberately added by someone who knew there was a more sinister reason behind the kidnapping? Maybe. Maybe not. But I'll watch the next few episodes to try to find out. Which tells me that the show is worth another look.

Saw the second episode. I'll just say this: I think it may be worth breaking your promise to never watch it again.

Oh no! I don't want to have to break my promise. But I'm glad you won't think less of me if I feel an obligation to do so.

Deeps watched the second episode so we'll talk about it when we record today!

I listened to your podcast and since it's not on your blog just yet I'm posting my two small corrections here.

    1. It's "she" not "he"
    2. I didn't say Dusku was a good actor. I said I saw potential; her acting in Dollhouse was an improvement from other things I'd seen her in.

    Good podcast. I'll keep listening.

Sorry about the gender thing, I'll remedy that in the next show. I tried to emphasize your general willingness to be open and give stuff a chance. Something that, in my view, makes you a better person than I am.

And I'm glad you're still listening. It's because of Derek, isn't it? Everyone loves Derek.

Don't sweat it about the gender thing. For some reason, everywhere I post, everyone thinks I'm a guy.

As to why I'm going to keep listening, sorry, but it's not Derek. No offense or anything but it's not Derek.

There's a good reason but that, along with my opinion on the latest Dollhouse episode, is going to have to wait. I've got a network to build for an exam I'm taking in two weeks. I'll come back on my next break.
